My First MyDockPractice What You Preach
Last week I subscribed to the trial version of MyDock.
Practice what you preach - hence use what you believe in.
Trying to ignore my knowledge of the 'MyDock inside details', I acted as a new, innocent, non-IT-savy enduser, who had found MyDock when googling for an easy online shop for the employees.
My Experience
- Getting the trial version was very easy. Just filled in my email and shopname, and 5 seconds later I had a welcome mail in my inbox with the link to My Shop.
- Making the generic shop 'All Mine' was easy too. I changed the color scheme to pinkish, I uploaded my logo, and it suddenly felt mine.
- Then the difficult part - adding products to my shop that I want our employees to be able to order. MyDock is an intuititve product so no extensive manual is included. Would I be able to figure out how to add a product??
Yeehaa, I am cool - within 5 minutes I found the "add product" button that actually allowed me to create new hardware, software and services. Fun, I must admit: for a shopaholic like myself it is exciting to create a catalog of products that others can buy. - Then: adding employees as enduser to the shop, so that they actually can start ordering.
- Easy as well - so I randomly added some collegues. Not knowing they would get an automated welcome message to login to My Shop, and that they started ordering right away... For some weird reason they were very very fast in ordering the newest Macbook Air, the expensive Visio license and an account to Yammer..
- But luckily that is why there is The Approval. The orders safely were sent to the person that I assigned to approve the requests. Only after his approval the products will be delivered.
So here I am - the non IT person who has set up a complete shop in 10 minutes. Proud is the word...
